It was a delightful knit and design. I thoroughly enjoyed the process. My afghan was designed to be symmetrical with mirror image panels on the sides and a center panel with mirror image braids on the sides. The edging is also symmetrical.
It also contains a number of different braids, trinity stitch and bobbles. All to minimize the use of the boring stockinette/reverse stockinette stitch. The trinity stitch was particularly enjoyable since it added some work on the WS rows.
The afghan was started at the end of March and completed in the middle of July. It then took a week or so to write up the pattern properly. It's amazing, but it's really different to write up a pattern for someone else than to keep notes for myself.
Anyhow, the pattern was submitted to MAGKnits, and as you know by now, accepted for publications. I'm very happy with the result.

Congratulations! It's absolutely fabulous :)
What a gorgeous afghan...beautiful!
Congratulations!
So beautiful! I've actually been looking for a good aran afghan pattern, although who knows when I'll have time to knit it! Truly stunning though, great pattern!
I love the pattern- but hate sewing seams!! is it possible to knit A,B, and C as one piece????
Bonnie - Yes, of course you can knit ABC as one piece. It will be a very large piece (not suitable for travel-knitting), but it can easily be knit as one.
ok, I LOVE your pattern! It immediately went to my Ravelry queue and I can't wait to start it! =D Thank you so much!
For et fantastisk flott pledd!!!
It is amazing!
Just wanted to let you know that the afghan is BEAUTIFUL!!!
Thank you SO much for making the pattern available!
Thank you for such an amazing pattern!
This is gorgeous! I love it! Thank you for the great pattern!
I just saw this on MAGKnits, and I have decided I absolutely must make it. It's so gorgeous! How incredibly beautiful. What an heirloom.
(Now, I just need to find yarn...I want to use something light, but I'm trying to go vegan, so no animal fibers...)
Beautiful! Congratulations
I like it. And i totally approve of using a table in design, I often translate patterns into a diagram as that is the easiest way of knitting it up flawlessly.
How long did this take you though???
I really meant to say. How long did this take you!!!!Superquick I'd say!
Knitting time (not counting design and write-up of the pattern) was a bit over two months for me.
I found your blog via Magknits, and I just had to pipe in to tell you that I LOVE this pattern. It's perfect. I've been looking for a cabled/aran blanket pattern for ages and found nothing but big needle jobs on fat yarn (no thanks) or samplers/patchwork, which is not what I wanted. I won't be able to start this until I clear out some other projects and reduce the stash a bit, but I hope to get to it next spring. Thanks so much for sharing the pattern with us.
Lovely work!

That is simply lovely! And you finished it so quickly!!! Congratulations on getting it published, and for designing such a lovely afghan
WOW! Jag är storligen imponerad och bugar djupt. Jag älskar att sticka spets och har gjort det i många många år, men att sticka sååå mycket flätmönster och så snabbt... nä det hade jag aldrig fixat!
Congrats!! That is really a gorgeous blanket!
I'll be looking forward to the pattern when it shows up in whichever issue. Yay!
(After swearing I will never again try to knit anything blanket-sized, I'm worried that this will, in fact, compel me to do just that. Oh well, at least I'll have fun doing it...!)
This afghan is just wonderful!
My jaw dropped when I saw this. It's gorgeous, and it is EXACTLY the pattern I've been searching for! Thank you! I ran out and bought yarn immediately.
I did want to give you a heads-up about some errate, if that's ok. In panel B, the vine pattern mirror image should start with row 9, not row 8. Also, row 17 of Center Braid looks like it should be "P4, T4L, T4R, T4L, P2, T4R, T4L, T4R, P4."
I'm sorry if this is rude, I just figured you might want to know! Thanks again for such a stunning pattern.
That afghan is stunningly beautiful! I have saved it so someday when I clear my to-do list, I'll be able to make one for me! Thank you so much for sharing the pattern! I just love aran patterns!
Another comment just to say, Absolutely gorgeous afghan!
WOW!
What an amazing piece of knitting!
fablous work!
And patience you must have...8)
The afghan is gorgeous! Any chance that you have charts hidden away somewhere for those cables? There's no way I'd do that much cabling without charts.
Nope, sorry, I don't have any charts. Some of them are available in Harmony Guides Aran Stitches, but not all....
Det er nydelig teppe, kjempefint!
HI ANNA
LOVE THE AFGAN SO MUCH MAKING MY BOYS ONE EACH BUT I HAVE TO START FIRST AND THE HARDEST PART IS READING THE PATTERN AS I HAVE BEEN SPOILT FOR NOW WITH ROW1, ROW2, ETC ETC. EXCUSE MY IGNORANCE BUT THE TABLE TO ME IS CONFUSING THAT I READ LEFT TO RIGHT FROM THE BEGINING OR I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND WHERE TO BEGING FROM.
